A Message from BlueScope Steel
The annual Southern Stars spectacular is a true highlight in
the Illawarra’s performing arts calendar.
The considerable talent of our young people never fails to impress
and I am looking forward to this year’s production with
great anticipation.
This year’s show - ‘This Life’ – involves
the largest cast ever and promises to be the most impressive,
complete with circus acts, live animals, a 1000 member choir
and a large orchestra.
Southern Stars provides the opportunity of a lifetime for the
almost 3000 students involved. They have learnt firsthand the
benefits of hard work, perseverance, self expression and above
all what can be achieved through team work. These skills are
not just important to a production like Southern Stars, but will
stand them in good stead for life after school.
In addition, the theme of ‘This Life’ focuses
on the important values of life and contains messages and life
lessons that the students will be able to draw upon as they move
into adulthood.
Some of the students involved in the production will go on to
professional careers in the performing arts; others will pursue
a diverse range of careers. Without a doubt they will all be
the richer for being a part of such a fantastic production.
I would like to congratulate all those involved, both performers
and those back stage and pay tribute to the commitment of the
many teachers and parents who work so hard to create such a magnificent
production.
